About
Our Founder
(continued)
As
the business grew so did Harrison's family. He and Margie
Lee had four children, three girls and a boy. The twins, Janice
and Warren, along with Margie Lee, run the business today.
Betty, the oldest daughter, who recently retired from NASA,
helps out at the store two days a week. Jane, the middle child,
who recently retired as well, after 30 years of teaching in
the Hanover County Public School System, visits home a lot
and shops at Jaxon's.
In 1989, Harrison decided to
expand the hardware line. He purchased the old, then vacant,
hardware store in town. Jaxon's Hardware was born. There has
been a hardware store on this corner in town for about 100
years.
On Labor Day 1994, Harrison
Phillips passed away after a two year battle with cancer.
Since his death, the businesses continues to be owned and
managed by his wife and children. When you visit Jaxon's you
will see three generations of family members, several of the
grandchildren help out too, working together to provide quality
service to their customers.
